Ambassador Foley joined the Fulbright Alumni Association in celebrating 50 years of Fulbright in Ireland. Attending the gala event were 24 of the Irish awardees for the coming academic year as well as over 100 Fulbright alumni and guests. The Irish Awardees were presented certificates signed by Ambassador Foley and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dermot Ahern, T.D.

During his address to the group, Ambassador Foley talked about the exceptional year of historic events that Ireland had just witnessed. He also talked about the history of Fulbright and the special position that the Irish program holds in the international Fulbright community. He urged the new awardees to take advantage of this opportunity to build lifetime relationships that would benefit not only their future careers but overall international understanding.
