Ambassador Rooney Launches United Washington Service
Ambassador Rooney and Irish Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Leo Varadkar launched United’s inaugural flight from Dublin Airport to Washington Dulles International on June 8, restoring a direct connection between the capital cities of Ireland and the United States.
Ambassador Rooney remarked “It is encouraging to see United Airlines’ new service to DC starting this morning as it represents a strong vote of confidence in travel and tourism between our two coutries.”
Dublin Airport now has 13 direct scheduled services to cities in North America, offering passengers an excellent choice of destinations and onward connections. United’s Washington service will operate from Dublin Airport’s award-winning Terminal 2 facility and passengers departing Dublin can avail of US pre clearance in T2.
Ambassador Rooney noted “At the recent launch of the BrandUSA tourism campaign, President Obama said 'Tourism is the number one service export – that’s because we have a great place to sell’”.
