Launch of Fulbright Interchanges Art Dialogue

Deputy Chief of Mission John Hennessey-Niland, who arrived at Embassy Dublin on April 9, 2010, recently launched the Inter-changes art exhibition currently on display at Mason Hayes+Curran at South Bank House in Dublin.  Inter-changes is a series of events and talks planned through May, and will showcase the work of American Fulbright Scholar Mary Bayard White, and American Fulbright Student Erin Treacy.  The series is a collaboration between the Fulbright Commission in Ireland, Mason Hayes+Curran, the National College of Art & Design and The Craft Council of Ireland. Introduced by MH+C Chairman Declan Moylan, the DCM noted that the Fulbright scholarships are “the crown jewels” of the State Department’s programs.  He also noted the importance of cultural and educational exchange to the bilateral U.S.-Ireland relationship.  From April 14-May 4 the exhibition will feature pieces by Mary Bayard White and the participants in her National College of Art & Design seminar: “Landscape of Aesthetics and Design.” From May 6-May 25, paintings by Fulbright student Erin Treacy will be displayed, and are a direct result of her time in residence in the Burren, Co. Clare and the Cill Rialaig Artist’s Retreat, Co. Kerry.
