NIV Checklist

Basic documents everyone must present to the visa interview appointment:

  • Your valid passport.

  • Euro bank draft, postal order, or money order made out to "US Embassy". See Visa Application Fee instructions.

  • The printout from your visa application confirmation page.  All Non-Immigrant Visa Applications at Embassy Dublin are submitted electronically through the Internet.  Please use this website: https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/ to complete and submit your visa application.  As you complete the visa application, please hit ‘save’ often.  As you fill out the application, you should also save a copy to your hard drive as a back up. You will need to upload a digital photo.

  • Please provide a stamped, addressed envelope (SAE) (6in x 9 1/2in approx) with an address in Ireland to where you wish to have your passport returned. We do not mail passports to addresses outside of Ireland. In cases where a family is applying, we require a separate envelope for each passport being returned. Please affix to the SAE a €5.50 regular postage stamp or a combination of stamps to the value of €5.50. When purchasing the stamp/s at the post office, please do not request the dated Riposte Mails Label. We will return your passport and documentation to you by Express Post mail.

While these are the basic documents, please examine your particular visa category in detail on this web site and through the Visa Information Service for more spicific information. Also remember that the consul may ask you for additional information at the time of the interview.

Besides the above documents, certain visa categories require additional documentation. If you are in one of the below categories, do you have the additional documentation? (NOTE: this is not an exaustive list and presentation of the below does not guarantee visa issuance).

In order to verify the petition approval, the Embassy will need the approved I-129 petition receipt number. Please make sure to have this receipt number available when you are scheduling your visa appointment via our call center. You must also provide the receipt number when you appear for your visa interview at the Embassy.
