AMERICAN CITIZEN SERVICES

Welcome to the American Citizen Services Unit

NEW!  Effective April 9th, most services that require you to come to the Embassy are provided through an online appointment system.  This change has been made to increase our efficiency and to reduce your wait time while at the Embassy.  Please do not schedule an appointment until you have read the information on our website related to the service you are seeking.

NOTE: All information on this website is accurate and updated regularly.  We kindly ask that you refrain from calling to confirm already scheduled, rescheduled or canceled online appointments or to inquire about the fees or documents needed for the services you require, because we will not return calls about these kinds of questions.

If information on this website is not clear to you, or you want an update on the status of an application, e-mail Acs_Dublin@state.gov

The American Citizen Services Unit (ACS) of the Consular Section provides a full-range of passport and citizenship services, birth registrations for U.S. citizen children born abroad as well as notarial and authentication services. ACS also provides information and assistance to U.S. citizens in Dublin.  For office hours and location please click here.

For more details on the services provided, make your selection from the options on the left-hand menu.

To hear recorded information on the telephone, or to reach someone in an after-hours emergency, please call 1-668-8777.

Security at the Embassy

For security reasons, do not bring luggage including large backpacks, laptop computers, or large cameras.  Security guards will hold small tourist cameras and cell phones until your departure, but there is no storage available for other items — please do not bring them to the Embassy.

Registering with the Embassy

If you would like to receive important information issued by the U.S. Department of State and the Embassy in Dublin, please register your stay in Ireland using this online registration service. By including your e-mail address at the time of registration, you will receive all Embassy bulletins and warden messages automatically.

As the Department continues to develop information on any potential security threats to U.S. citizens overseas, it shares credible threat information through its consular information program documents, available on the Internet. In addition to information on the Internet, travelers may obtain up-to-date information on security conditions by calling 1-888-407-4747 toll-free in the U.S. or outside the U.S. and Canada on a regular toll line at 1-317-472-2328. Travel Warnings and other general information are also available on the U.S. Embassy Dublin website.
