Police Clearance - Evidence of no criminal record

Some individuals may be requested to obtain proof from Federal and State Authorities stating that they do not have criminal records.

State Clearance

To obtain police clearance from your state or states of residence in the United States, you must contact the police in the state or states of the United States in which you are or were resident. You may obtain contact information for the relevant state by following the link below.

Federal Clearance

To obtain Federal clearance, you must contact the FBI.

To obtain FBI clearance, log onto the FBI website, http://www.fbi.gov/. Click on the link titled “How Do I….?, and then choose the link to “Request an FBI Identification Record”. From here you can find information on the procedure, fee and any other pertinent information. You can also download the required fingerprint card, FD-258 Fingerprint Card.

The Embassy cannot fingerprint individuals except with regard to applications for visas to the United States. Garda (Police) Headquarters, The Phoenix Park, Dublin 8, tel: 353-1-666-0000, can provide fingerprint services, and may be in a position to advise whether individual Garda Stations in any area can provide such services.
