Lost, Stolen or Mutilated Passports
The American Citizen Services Unit in Dublin can issue an emergency, limited validity passport for immediate travel the day you apply. You must bring proof of travel: airline ticket or electronic ticket if your departure is imminent. Please review our Hours of Operation.

In order to obtain a replacement passport, ALL applicants, including children, MUST appear in person at the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy with the following items:
- A police report detailing the loss or theft, if available;
- All available identification such as: birth certificate, driver's license, photocopy of the missing passport, or an expired U.S. passport;
- One recent color photograph taken full face, with a white background, measuring 5 cm by 5 cm (2 in x 2 in). Irish photo booth photographs are not acceptable. Please ask the photographer for photos for a U.S. passport.
- If your departure is not imminent, Please include a stamped self-addressed envelope, size 6in x 9 1/2in approx., for the return of your passport. Please affix to the envelope a €5.75 regular postage stamp or a combination of stamps to the value of €5.75. We will return your passport to you by Express Post mail. It takes approximately five to six weeks for you to receive your new passport.
All applications for children under 16 require the consent of both parents or legal guardians of the child.
If one parent/guardian is unable to sign the application form DS-11, he/she MUST submit a notarized statement of consent form DS-3053 authorizing the other parent to submit an application. You must also submit an original or legible photocopy of the child's birth certificate.

Security at the Embassy
Please do not bring any electronic devices, such as laptop computers, Blackberries, iPods, or large bags, such as backpacks, suitcases or packages to the Consular Section as there are no storage facilities on Embassy grounds. Security guards may hold small tourist cameras and cell phones until your departure, but there is no storage available for any other large items or electronic devices — please do not bring them at the time of your appointment.
