IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN IRELAND SEEKING CONSULAR SERVICES

– VISA OR AMERICAN CITIZEN SERVICES-RELATED –

For the weeks of November 17 – November 28, 2014. 

Please Note that the Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy Dublin  will have reduced services the week of November 17, 2014 – November 21, 2014. 

The Consular Section will be closed to the public the week of November 24, 2014 - November 28, 2014 due to extensive renovations.  

If you have upcoming travel plans in late November or early December and will need a visa to travel, please schedule an appointment for late October or early November 2014.  If you require American Citizen Services (e.g. passport renewal, Consular Report of Birth Abroad, or notarial), please schedule an appointment for October or early November.  

The U.S. Embassy in Dublin expects full consular services will resume on Monday, December 1, 2014 following the renovations, but please continue to check our website for updates.

The Embassy's Visa Unit processes applications for both non-immigrant and immigrant visas to the United States.

Nonimmigrant visas are required for travelers who wish to visit, work or study for a temporary period. The type of visa required will depend on the purpose of your travel. 

Visa Waiver Program (VWP) Citizens of the 36 countries participating in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) may be eligible to travel to the United States visa free under the VWP if they are traveling for business, pleasure or are in transit, and they meet all the requirements.  

Immigrant Visas are required for anyone who wishes to enter the United States to reside there permanently, whether or not that person plans to seek employment in the United States.
